◆ About the instructors
LA SEÑAS
Formed in 2016, LA SEÑAS is a “frenzied percussion collective” made up entirely of percussionists.
They are Japan's first group to adopt Rhythm with Signs, an improvisation method using hand signals.
Thunderous sound from a large ensemble. Unpredictable developments unique to improvisation. Music that is both traditional and innovative. Their powerful performances invite every listener into a “country of frenzy.”
Their music has won acclaim across generations and cultures. They perform everywhere from live music venues, outdoor festivals, and clubs to school gyms and workshops for children.
They have attracted attention in many fields, appearing in a percussion feature on TV Asahi's EIGHT-JAM, collaborating with artists active in Japan and overseas—including Uchikubi Gokumon Doukoukai, Nisshoku Natsuko, KenKen (RIZE), and Ogawa Keita (Snarky Puppy)—and being featured on Yahoo! News.
They released their first EP, La, in September 2021 and their second, Señas, that December. Their first album, Country of Frenzy, received nationwide distribution in January 2024. A Tokyo–Nagoya–Osaka tour followed, with a sold-out finale at Shibuya WWW.
In March 2025, they toured Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka with their second album, “熱狂は全てを超えて.” All four shows, including Shibuya WWWX, had sold out six months before the tour.
Their third album, “熱狂の彼方へと紡ぐ,” was released in May 2026. That month they began their largest nationwide tour to date, concluding to great acclaim at Ebisu LIQUIDROOM.
Appearances on TV Asahi's EIGHT-JAM and Nippon TV's Oh! My God! brought further attention. They have contributed to the score and music of Hosoda Mamoru's film Scarlet and ISSEY MIYAKE brand films. Their credits include Uchikubi Gokumon Doukoukai shows at PIA ARENA MM and LaLa arena, as well as collaborations with leading artists such as Nisshoku Natsuko, KenKen, the taiko ensemble Kodo, and Grammy winner Ogawa Keita (Snarky Puppy).
