Fukuoka Mothers’ Chorus Liaison Council 50th Anniversary Concert

The Fukuoka Mothers’ Chorus Liaison Council, formed by around 30 choirs in the Fukuoka area, holds a combined concert each year to encourage friendship and mutual development among its groups. Marking 50 years since its founding, the council presents a 50th Anniversary Concert at ACROS Fukuoka Symphony Hall on Oct. 1 as part of the Fukuoka Civic Arts Festival. For half a century, its members have connected through song and accompanied the development of Fukuoka’s musical culture through appearances at many community events. This anniversary year looks back on their long musical activities and offers bright harmonies in gratitude to everyone around them.

Notes
The council began in 1973 with 16 choirs. Mixed choirs have also joined in recent years.
For the 50th anniversary, three non-member choirs will appear as supporting performers.
Conductor Eiichi Himoto, based in Tokyo, will serve as guest instructor.
Chœur Étoile, Chorus Kasuga, and Coro La Piccina have appeared in all 50 concerts since the first. Two individuals have also appeared for 50 consecutive years. They will be honored at the start of the afternoon program.
Conductors and pianists from the member groups formed a 50th Anniversary Choir, which will sing Nemu no Ki Furuu under Himoto’s direction.
