The #KF30th series marks KIETH FLACK’s 30th anniversary. Its renewed opening party brings the legendary DON LETTS to Fukuoka. Still fresh in memory is last summer’s screening of REBEL DREAD HARDWARE presents Acme Attractions Era. In 1970s London, Letts introduced punks including the SEX PISTOLS and THE CLASH to reggae and shaped their music, making him the perfect major artist for a Kieth Flack anniversary that colors daily life beyond genre.

DON LETTS, REBEL DREAD HARDWARE
Born in Brixton, London, Don Letts is a key figure who connected punk and reggae. His first DJ venue, the ROXY, operated for only 100 days but became legendary for introducing reggae to punks including the SEX PISTOLS, THE CLASH, and THE SLITS. Letts operated Acme Attractions, a shop central to London culture alongside Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren’s SEX, drawing attention through fashion and the dub reggae whose bass shook the shop walls.
As a filmmaker, he recorded the era as it unfolded and created the first punk documentary, The Punk Rock Movie, in 1979. He won a Grammy in 2003 for the Clash documentary Westway to the World and made Punk: Attitude, an exploration of punk’s core, in 2005.
In the mid-1980s, he joined former Clash member Mick Jones in BIG AUDIO DYNAMITE, playing a central role in its innovative use of sampling. Alongside studio and remix work as DUB CARTEL SOUND SYSTEM, he joined the globally loved Late Night Tales compilation series as selector in 2021 and earned acclaim for a distinctively dubbed-out selection. In 2023, he released Outta Sync, the first album under his solo project REBEL DREAD. He hosts Culture Clash Radio every Sunday on BBC Radio 6 Music.
His first Japan visit in six years celebrates the launch of REBEL DREAD HARDWARE, a clothing project founded in 2023 by Letts and his friend of 18 years, Hatchuck.
