Astor Piazzolla 100th Birth and 30th Death Anniversaries — Argentine Tango Show: The World of Life and Death, Kyushu Performances
A world of love and freedom born from life and death through the music of Astor Piazzolla.
Commemorating 100 years since Piazzolla’s birth and 30 years since his death, this tango show stars actor and singer Eri Watanabe. Alongside acting, she has sung in many stage productions and performances and has actively performed tango. Her powerful voice fills major theaters and draws audiences into tango. The show’s theme is life and death, combining last year’s 100th anniversary of Piazzolla’s birth with this year’s 30th anniversary of his death. It is also a theme each of us has faced while witnessing the COVID-19 pandemic of the past three years and the recent war between Russia and Ukraine. Through this production, we hope to convey the joy and wonder of being alive, and love.
